from a (presumed) derivative of δεσμεω, - desmeo G 1196; to be a binder (captor), i.e. to enchain (a prisoner), to tie on (a load):-- bind.
δεσμευουσιν Matt 23:4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.
δεσμευων Acts 22:4 And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women.
